Yogyakarta, June 19, 2025 — The Master Program in Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) at Universitas Gadjah Mada held its Final Studio Examination as the culmination of a practice-based academic series this semester. This event provided a platform for students to present their findings, analyses, and proposed flagship planning programs based on field research conducted earlier in the semester.
As part of the studio process, students were divided into several groups and assigned to different areas for their regional studies. The study locations included:

Each group presented an in-depth analysis of spatial, social, and economic conditions, as well as key development challenges and opportunities in their respective regions. Based on this analysis, students formulated strategic planning proposals tailored to the local context, aiming to provide realistic and implementable solutions.
The presentations were actively responded to by studio lecturers and representatives from local Development Planning Agencies (Bappeda), offering valuable feedback to enhance the relevance and feasibility of the proposed plans. This interaction bridged academic learning with real-world policy needs in the field of regional development.
The studio also aligns with UGM’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, it contributes to Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), Goal 4 (Quality Education), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through collaborative, data-driven, and context-sensitive planning approaches. By engaging students directly with real planning challenges, MPWK UGM continues to foster future planners who are capable of driving sustainable and inclusive development across Indonesia.
