Wednesday, June 30, 2021, the Urban and Regional Planning Community held the Urban Research Forum+ (URF+) 2021 Seminar Series #1 with the topic “The Future of Indonesian Cities: Research Agenda, Innovations, and Planning Education Program”. This seminar invited four speakers, namely Prof. Achmad Djunaedi (PWK UGM), Prof. Sudaryono (PWK UGM), Prof. Bambang Hari Wibisono (PWK UGM), and Prof. Bakti Setiawan (PWK UGM). In addition to the four speakers, this seminar also invited two other speakers, namely, Professor Tommy Firman (SAPPK ITB) and Professor Imam Buchori (PWK Undip). Dr Tri Mulyani and Prof. Bakti Setiawan moderated the seminar.
The discussion was divided into four sessions and continued with discussion and question sessions by the discussants. In the first session, Professor Achmad Djunaedi presented “The Future of Smart Cities in Indonesia”. After his presentation had finished, the UGM PWK Community also presented a video as a form of gratitude to Professor Achmad Djuanedi, who completed his tenure as a Civil Servant (PNS). The second session was the presentation from Prof. Sudaryono. Professor Sudaryono presented about “Entropy Paradigm for the Future Direction of Indonesian Cities”. The third session was a presentation from Prof. Bambang Hari Wibisono, who explained “Urban Design for Sustainable Urban Transformation”. The last session was by Professor Bakti Setiawan, who talked about “Beyond Planning: Leadership, Innovations, and Community Actions for Sustainable Urban Transformation in Indonesia”.
After the presentation session had completed, there was a discussion session between the presenters and the discussants, Professor Tommy and Professor Imam. The four sessions of topic presentation and discussion were greeted with very high enthusiasm from the participants by asking many questions to the speakers directly through the chat.
The seminar session has been completed, followed by the UGM Urban and Regional Planning Open House. The Open House is a series of events to introduce bachelor, master, and doctoral programs in Regional Planning and UGM. Dr. Yori Herwangi presented the bachelor program as the head of the bachelor program, the master’s program by Dr. Eng Muhammad Sani Roychansyah as the head of the master program, and Prof. Bambang Hari Wibisono as a promoter in the doctoral program.
The Urban Research Forum+ Seminar Series #1 event ran smoothly through the Zoom meeting platform and Youtube Live. A total of 780 participants enthusiastically participated in this event by following the event to completion.
