On Friday (17/3), Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) and Undergraduate Program in Urban and Regional Planning, Department of Architecture and Planning, Faculty of Engineering held a public lecture with the Governor of Central Java, H. Ganjar Pranowo, SH, M.IP. entitled “Vision Mission of Development and Spatial Planning in Jawa Tengah Province”.
In this public lecture, Ganjar provides a review of development in Jawa Tengah, from the achievement of economic growth, inflation rate, poverty, unemployment rate, a surplus supply of rice stock, as well as the leading tourism sector. Ganjar added there are four leading tourist destination that is being developed by the Jawa Tengah such as Dieng, Borobudur, Karimunjawa, and Sangiran Area.
“In the context of economic calculation, the tourism sector is the future economy” said Ganjar disclose the reasons for regional development in tourism sectors.
In his presentation, Ganjar revealed that the issue in the spatial planning and implementation tend to be political elements. Some innovations and development policy in Jawa Tengah highlights the positioning of rural development (rural areas and spatial planning in rural areas). Additionally, Ganjar added on the importance of management and revitalization of the coastal area and watershed system.
One of the fundamental problems of a bad management in watershed areas such as the flooding at plateau, land conversion, lack of spring water such as in Dieng and residential complex along the river in urban area.
“In 12 years of working in the structuring Code Area, Romo Mangun find three main things: mundur (walk away from river body), madhep (rebuilt house to ahead the river body), munggah (built the house vertically). These will be implemented in the revitalitation process in river and watershed area … “said Ganjar on presentation.
In closing, Ganjar asserted that the success of the development process requires reform of the bureaucracy. Governments are required to provide a service that is easy, inexpensive, accountable, and transparent. (MPKD Admin/Yosi Mutiarni)
