AcademicAgenda-en Tuesday, 9 February 2021

On Monday, February 8, 2021, the Master in Urban and Regional Planning conducted an inaugural lecture by inviting Mr. Setiaji, S.T., M.Si, the Head of the West Java Communication and Information Office, as the speaker. The topic in this inaugural lecture was related to Smart City Dashboard Integration and Visualization with case studios on handling COVID-19 in West Java. Starting with an opening and remarks from the Head of the Department of Architecture and Planning, Mr. Deva Fosterharoldas, and the Head of the MPWK Study Program, Mr. Muhammad Sani Roychansyah, this lecture was attended by more than 200 participants consisting of undergraduate and postgraduate students of PWK and other teaching lecturers.

In this lecture, there were several important points put forward by Mr. Setiaji, in the form of:

  1. Digital Province is an innovation taken by the government of West Java Province to optimize government performance in meeting community needs by making applications based on community needs
  2. In data collection, Jabar Digital Service collects from various applications, such as Waze, Facebook, Sapa Warga, and social media or other applications, then it is saved at the Jabar Command Center
  3. This data collection is done digitally starting from a low level (RW, the lowest community association) to the local government, central government, vertical and non-government agencies. The results of this data collection can be used for any analysis in policy development and decision making, including in handling COVID-19
  4. In handling COVID-19, West Java Province developed the Pikobar application. The benefits of the Pikobar application and other application’s data make it easier for the government and can collect some important data, such as community data, patients, contact tracing, logistics, independent screening, hoax prevention, and other information related to COVID-19.

The participants, consisting of students and lecturers, were very enthusiastic about this discussion by actively asking several questions related to the topics that had been explained. It is hoped that after attending this inaugural public lecture it will be able to increase student knowledge in the process of developing a Smart City.

Data for Planning: General Lecture of Director General of Transmigration Area Development

AcademicAgenda-enalumniInformation Friday, 25 August 2017

MPKD – UGM. On Monday, August 14, 2017, MPKD (Master of Urban and Regional Planning) and Undergraduate Program of Urban and Regional Planning UGM, held a general lecture to welcome the new academic year 2017/2018. This lecture was given by Muhammad Nurdin, Director General of Transmigration Area Development, who is also an alumnus of MPKD UGM.

Mr. Nurdin started a public lecture which entitled “Development of Transmigration Area: Independent Integrated Independent City”with an unequal distribution of the population of Indonesia, thus inflicting the issue of social and spatial inequality. With the high rate of poverty in Indonesia, unequal gini index value between urban and rural areas, the gap of inter-regional development, as well as the high rate of urbanization, it takes the solution so that the development process in Indonesia will be more equitable. The solution is to develop transmigration areas with regional and cluster approaches.

He added that the closed cycle of the planning process must be met with accurate and up to date data support. With this, then the purpose of development will be achieved. The Integrated Independent City (KTM) area initiated by the PDTT Kemendesa is developed through a regional and cluster approach that involves the role of all sectors. The regional approach sees the function of the area, while the cluster approach (commodity) is used to make the management of the area more effective and efficient through ease of management and investment systems.

He added that it takes hard work from various parties to be able to realize more equitable welfare for the areas that are still left behind in Indonesia, including the role of quality planning graduates. The presentation closes by emphasizing the importance of good, accurate, real, and up to date data availability so that planned programs can be well realized and evaluated.

This lecture is closed with question session, door prize session by the head of MURP, Prof. Bakti Setiawan, as well as singing the song “Padamu Negeri” led by MURP student: Paul.
